FIRST TIME VISITOR?
COGITA INTERNSHIPS FOR STUDENTS Print E-mail

All of COGITA's leaders have been students. So COGITA has a soft spot for students. COGITA always tries to make available a place for students who are looking for a safe place to spend a gap period or a corporate environment to complete a degree requirement for practical business experience. For such people COGITA offers student internships on a first come first serve basis in any COGITA office that is appropriate to the students' needs.

SUPERVISOR AVAILABILITY

Internships are subject to availability of a designated COGITA person who is willing to be the student's COGITA supervisor. The right supervisor makes a difference. And for international students a COGITA supervisor is critical to help ensure the personal safety of the student in New Zealand and Australia.

UNPAID

Student internships are limited, unpaid, periods of work for a term of up to 12 months.

At COGITA general student internships give the intern two or three months of work in a specific discipline (marketing, sales administration, finance, technical desktop support etc) before moving on to another discipline. Specific student internships give the intern one discipline on which to focus for the full term of the internship. COGITA accepts student interns of all ages from all nationalities.

BEFORE A STUDENT INTERNSHIP CAN START

Before they can begin interns must:

  • have a valid passport which will be current for the term of the internship
  • provide evidence of having enough funds to live in New Zealand or Australia in whatever city the intern is posted to a COGITA office.
  • provide proof of return travel tickets to the intern's home country and city
  • obtain the correct study visa for Australia and/or New Zealand
  • provide proof of medical and emergency insurance
  • prior to final approval of the internship put the designated COGITA representative in touch with an appropriate family member of the intern
  • prior to final approval of the internship put the designated COGITA representative in touch with the intern's University (or other tertiary education institution or professional association) supervisor
